News Summer 2005
20 February 2006:

On 12-02-2006, The ∞ Nukes played against AWOL Men for the Bronze medal. The winning picture is already up (see below). We batted first and put up a very good 140 runs. They replied with 79, giving us an easy victory and another medal for the stash. Contributor of the Match was Heinz Mittermaier with 17 net runs. Well done guys!

On 15-02-2006, The Atomic Nukes squared up against Vasvat. We opened the batting and scored 42, 18, 22 and 20 to get to 102 runs. It was quite a decent score against these okes. They replied with 35, 27 and 19 in the first three skins. That left them 21 runs short of our total. It came down to the last ball, they needed four and got the four to win by one run. Yes, it was heartbreaking, but on the night, they bowled better than us and that made the difference between Gold and Silver. Better luck next season! Contributor of the Match was Erik vd Linde with 11 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes in Silver

Congratulations to: Michael Correia for having played in 101 games for The Nukes! (The first player to pass the 100 game milestone!) And reaching 200 wickets at an average of 13.16 runs per game. Well done Dude!

So that brings us to the end of our seventh season! The next season starts this week, so beware when you see RED! You might just not see any other colour after that!

14 February 2006:

OK, it has been a while since the last update, so here it goes! On the 7th of Feb, The Nukes Kywalkers played first against Sout for a place in the Gold Final. The Souties batted first and stumbled their way to 95 runs. We bowled and fielded quite superbly. When our turn came to bat, we started off at a decent rate, but put the foot down in second. The let up only came when the game was over, we had scored a HUGE total of 157 runs and with that secured a spot to play for Gold! Contributor of the Match was Carel Viljoen with 16 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played at the same time against Time Quantum, also for a place in the Gold Final (second and last chance though). We batted first and struggled to 52 runs due to some erratic batting on our side and some very sharp fielding on their side. We were always going to struggle to defend that and in the end had to conceed defeat as they scored 98 runs. We were relegated to the Bronze final. Contributor of the Match was Piet Viljoen with 12 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes played next against old foe Vasvat. As usual, we started the batting. Everybody contributed evenly and we got to a defendable 91 runs, although it would somewhat difficult defend that against these oukes. They just played better than we did on the night and in the end gave us a good hiding when they finished on 128 runs. Contributor of the Match was Spiderman with 5 net runs.

On 9 Feb, The Atomic Nukes had a second chance at qualifying for the Gold Final. We played in the grave yard shift, but first had to wait for Numb Nuts and Rawalpindi Express to fight it out to play us. It turned out that the Numb Nuts were not so numb on the night and won that game. Turning to our game, they won the toss and elected to field. We started off steadily, but pressed on in the second skin with 35 runs. The third went slowly, but we turned it on in the last skin with 36 more to end on 108 runs. They started well, scoring 41 runs in the first skin, followed by 21 and 17 in the subsequent skins. That left them 30 to get in the last skin. We held our nerve and bowled and fielded briliantly, only conceding 17, which gave us victory and a final showdown with Vasvat. Contributor of the Match was Spiderman with 15 net runs.

Then along came FINALS Sunday (12 Feb). The Nukes Kywalkers played at 9:00 against their nemesis, Team Amstel, who batted first. We did quite good in the field, taking the run outs and catches as they came along. We restricted them to their smallest total against us, which is 112. Our turn to bat and we started off slowly, but solidly in the first skin with 19 runs, courtesy of Rob and Turbo. Then came the new BIG GUNS, Martin and Ryan. They took a particular liking to the bowling and smashed their way to a record 62 run skin, which included three sixes by Martin who top scored with 39! After that, it was plain sailing as Carel and Visagie kept everything out, while accumulating 23 more runs. Piet and Konrad finished things off nicely with 37 in the last skin, finally giving us victory over Team Amstel and with that the GOLD MEDAL! Contributor of the Match was of course Martin with 22 net runs! Visagie also deserves a mention, he got his first hat trick! Well done to all!!!

The Nukes Kywalkers in Gold

The ∞ Nukes played directly afterwards against some team, who were not strong enough on the day and we easily took the Bronze Medal off them! The score sheet has unfortunately not been loaded yet, sorry! Enjoy the victory photo in the mean time!!!

The ∞ Nukes in Bronze

The Atomic Nukes are playing Vasvat on 15 Feb at 20:50 for the Gold Medal. We could use all the support we can get!!!

6 February 2006:

Last week we played on three consecutive days. On Tuesday, 31-01-2006, The Nukes Kywalkers played against Sout. We got the chance to swing the willow first and made good use of the opportunity. After a slowish start, three skins in excess of 31 runs saw us put together a defendable total of 120 runs. Sout got off to a flyer and were slightly ahead of our score at the halfway stage of their innings. We managed to bowl tidily in the last two skins and got home with Sout requiring 8 more runs! Contributor of the Match goes to Stefan van Niekerk with 20 net runs.

On Wednesday, The ∞ Nukes played their first semi-final game to reach the Gold Medal final (The ∞ Nukes finished top of the log). The game was against Explorers who we narrowly beat twice during the season. We batted first and immediately found the going kinda tough, scraping 4 runs from the first skin. We then got going nicely, but the Explorers found their in the last skin again, keeping us to 6 runs. We posted 69 runs to defend, which is a slim total on the best of nights. The Explorers took a liking to our bowling and passed our score in the third skin. They then let loose properly and walked off with 124 runs and a place in the final. Contributor of the Match goes to Schalk Albertyn with 11 net runs. We have another chance to reach the final tomorrow night when we play Time Quantum.

On Thursday, The Atomic Nukes played Numb Nuts for the first time during the season, which was also our last round robin game. We batted first and got a good 32 in the first skin. Their fielding proved to be anything but numb as they took 7 wickets. The next three skins found it even tougher and scored a further 24 runs, leaving us a bit exposed on 56 runs. The Nutters got off to a solid start, scoring 29 in the first skin and 17 more in the second. We pulled the third skin back really well (-2), but could not hold in the last skin (17 more) to leave them with 60 runs and a victory. We bowled and fielded quite well, but obviously let ourselves down in the batting department. Some glasses for the umpire might also have been helpful as she missed at least two crucial run outs. Contributor of the match goes to Dirk Swart with 12 net runs.

Congratulations to: Schalk Albertyn for passing 150 career wickets (151 in 70 games at 12.39 runs/game)

This week is semi-final week. The Atomic Nukes play Vasvat for a place in the Gold medal final, so does The ∞ Nukes, who plays Time Quantum. The Nukes Kywalkers plays Sout, also for a place in the Gold semi-final. We had a good season thus far, with everyone finishing either top or second on their respective logs. Good LUCK for tomorrow night!

Tip of the Week: Never say die in an action cricket game! If you keep the bowling tight and the fielding sharp, anything can happen!

30 January 2006:

On 24-01-2006 The Nukes Kywalkers squared up against Team Amstel. They went in to bat first and started solidly in the first skin. By the end of the second skin they were already on 78, but it is at this time that our fielding started to get going. Their third skin got only 8 runs, with their initial pair again scoring freely to get 32. Our turn came to bat and we got off to a very good start, courtesy of 49 runs in the first skin. Our second and third skins came in for some punishment and left our final pair to get 55 for the win. They batted and stole singles faster than our opponents can down beer, but could only score 44 of the required runs, a very good effort indeed! Contributor of the Match was Gerhard vd Merwe with 24 net runs, including another hat trick. Gerhard can now boast of a very rare feat: he got a hat trick in three successive games, a hat trick of hat tricks!

At the same time, The ∞ Nukes played next against Time Quantum. They batted first and got off to a good start, the first two skins contributing 28 each. It was however at the half way mark that we sent them back in time, as they could only manage 21 runs in the next 8 overs! Some very accurate bowling and sharp fielding doing the trick. We batted tentatively at first, but picked up momentum as our second skin smashed 41 quantums of their bowling. By the end of the third skin, we were only one run short of their total. We ended the game on 90 runs, 13 runs clear of their total. Contributor of the Match is shared between Frank Pike and Philip le Roux, both with 15 net runs.

Next, The Atomic Nukes played Pornstars. previously we were beaten quite badly by them, so we wanted to well in this game. We opened the batting and found our way to 25 after the first skin. The next skin brought in 19 more runs, so we were on our way. Then came Gerhard and Dirk who disdainfully smashed the ball all around the court to finish up on 90! Our final skin produced their usual 21 runs and we felt quite confident of defending 111 runs. The Pornstars started well, but it was soon clear that the game would be evenly contested. They just won the first and second skins, meaning we were about even at the half way stage. In the end one bad over from us caused them to pass our score, at which they simply blocked the last two balls to give them a victory of a single run. Contributor of the Match was Gerhard vd Merwe with 15 net runs.

In our fourth game for the evening, The ∞ Nukes played Explorers. We batted first and progressed steadily to 56 after two skins, ending up on 106 after four. Our opponents seemed lost in the first skin, as they could only score 9 runs. They got the GPS going in second and scored 33 in the second skin. We pegged them back in the third skin to only 20 and rationed out only 26 runs in the final skin, which left them on 88 runs, 18 runs short of our total. Contributor of the Match was Heinz Mittermaier with 12 net runs.

Tip of the Week: If you are bowled a leg side ball behind your back, look at and listen to your partner as the run is his call. Do not look for the ball, trust your partner and run like a fast neutron!

18 January 2006:

On 17-01-2006 we played round 9 of the season. The Nukes Kywalkers played in the first time slot against Titans. Titans batted first and seamed to have beefed up their batting. They got 118, with their final skin contributing a hefty 39. Getting their score will always take some doing, but we got off to a good start, courtesy of Rib and Turbo scoring 27. The going was tough in the next two skins, we getting only 13 and 14. We tried our best in the last skin, but could only scrape to 80 runs. Contributor of the Match was Turbo with 7 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played next against AWOL Men. We batted first and got off to a solid start (28). Then Piet and Schalk made a mess of their bowling, scoring huge with 46 in the next skin. The last two skins all contributed solidly to bring us to grand total of 130 runs. A total we should be able to defend easily. The Awollies came out firing their big guns, getting 41 in the first skin. We then pulled it back a bit in the second skin and got it nicely together in the third, conceding only 12 runs. Their last pair tried their best and got 39 runs, but it still left them short of our score on 119. Our fielding can be a lot sharper as we missed several catches and run outs. Contributor of the Match was Piet with 25 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes played next against old rivals Rawalpindi Express. We owed them one from last year's last game. We won the toss and elected to bat. Erik and Stefan had a solid first over and then proceded to plunder the bowling from then on, putting together a huge 61 run opening partnership. (Erik got 38 of those) Sarel and Dugald followed suit and smashed another 46 in the second skin (Sarel getting 29) to leave us on probably our highest score after 8 overs: 107! Unfortunately the train drivers got their act together and conceded only 15 and 11 in the next two skins, which meant they had to chase 133. As expected they came out firing, getting 37 and 35 runs in the first two skins, on target as far as they were concerned. We nuked them good in the third skin and was in control in the last skin, which left them out of steam on 107 runs. Our fielding was bad and we need to pick this up before the finals! Contributor of the Match was Gerhard with 15 net runs and his 8th hat trick and five stumpings...

Congratulations:

Heinrich Stander for reaching 200 career wickets in 92 games at an average of 11.2 runs/game. Well done!

In total The Nukes have now scored more than 19 000 runs (19 093 to be exact) and conceded 19029 runs! Power on the RED machine!

Tip of the Week: Catches still win you matches!!!

12 January 2006:

On 10-01-2006 we had a busy night, playing no less than five games! The Nukes Kywalkers played against Charles. We batted first and got a solid 92 runs. Brothers Gerhard and Conrad doing the most damage, scoring 39 off the last skin. It seemed our opponents wanted to finish the game quickly and smashed our bowling all over from the word go (nobody told them the 16 overs are compulsory!). Their skins were big and they walked off with 197 runs. Afterwards we learned that they had an SA Action Cricket player in their midst, giving them a most unfair advantage. Surely there should be rules against these guys playing in league E4???. Konrad vd Merwe was the contributor of the match with 2 net runs.

At the same time, The ∞ Nukes played against Explorers. We batted first and scored steadily to reach 75 runs, which is somewhat difficult to defend on any given night. A tight bowling and fielding effort was required. We started well, conceding only 3 runs in the first skin. By the end of the third skin, they required 29 runs for victory, which eventually meant 6 off the last over. Charl bowled a few leg sides and they had 77 with one ball to go. Charl promptly bowled the batsman, which victory to us by a solitary run. Eish, that was a close one! Contributor of the match was Philip le Roux with 12 net runs.

Next up, The Atomic Nukes played old rivals Vasvat. Half of our team played in the two early games, which ran late, so they agreed that we could bat first. We started off rustily, this being the first game of the new year for us. The holiday rust thankfully affected our opponents as well as they strugled in the field. This enabled us to steadily march on to a bigger than expected score of 121 runs. They started well in the first skin, achieving 37 runs, but played better as time went on, reducing their skins to smaller and smaller totals as the game progressed. They were in with shout, needing 29 off the last three overs. This is however where Gerhard took the game away from them with some excellent bowling, his 7th hat trick in the first three balls of the over. They could not recover from this setback and ended up on 94 runs. Contributor of the match was indeed Gerhard vd Merwe with 22 net runs.

The Nukes Kywalkers played their second game of the evening against Team Amstel. We batted first and were restricted to only 77 runs. Team Amstel must have waited to down a few after the game, because their batting proved emphatic. They hit some lusty blows, but also scored the all important twos. They took us apart in the last two skins which went for 46 and 50 runs respectively, leaving them on 145, which is of course well past our total. Contributor of the match was Konrad vd Merwe with 3 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played their second of the evening against Boxom Bende. Guess what, we batted first and got to a defendable 102 runs. Piet and Gerhard fared the best, getting 21 and 26 respectively. We then clamped down on our opponents from the start, conceding 15 in the first skin. They fared better in the next two skins (25 and 28), but could only manage 17 in the final skin, giving them a total of 85 and us a victory of 17 runs. Contributor of the match was Piet Viljoen with 21 net runs.

Welcome Konrad van der Merwe, may you play many more games in a red shirt!

10 January 2006:

Although the New Year is already ten days old: HAPPY NEW YEAR! May you have good health and happiness in 2006. Our opponents can expect to see some RED as fast neutrons bombard them from all corners!

On 13-12-2005 we played our last matches for last year. The ∞ Nukes played against Wombles. They batted first and took a liking to our bowling. They hit us all over the park to end on a huge total of 150 runs. We started off well by getting 42 in the first skin, but could not keep the pace and in the end, could only show 101 runs for our batting effort. Contributor of the Match goes to Wimpie van Rooyen for a net score of 12 runs. The new year will bring new enthusiasm, so watch for the rematch Wombly Dudes...

Also on 13-12-2005 The Atomic Nukes played Rawalpindi Express in the late night shift. We batted first and struggled to 98 runs. We thought we could defend that total against the train, but alas, some wayward bowling proved us wrong. We conceded 108 runs and with that victory in the last game of the year. Contributor of the Match goes to Gerhard van der Merwe for a huge net contribution of 34 runs.

Tonight we kick off the new year with 5 games! Watch this space to see how we did!

Tip of the week: As the Proteas have proved over the last 6 weeks in Australia: Dropped catches still loses you matches!

8 December 2005:

On 06-12-2005, The Nukes Kywalkers played Sout. We batted first and batted solidly to reach a very defendable total of 122 runs. All four skins contributed equally, with Steve, Wimpie and Stefan getting 20, 19, and 18 respectively. Our opponents started equally well: they matched our first skin total of 29. Their second skin did even better and got 37, which meant they were well on their way to victory at the halfway stage. Then we started rubbing salt into a small wound and restricted their thrid skin to only three runs! Their last skin was unable to repair the damage and they ended up on 94. Contributor of the Match was Steve Aaron with 22 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played against AWOL Men. They batted first and eventually found their best batting pair in the first skin (39). We bowled (conceding only 16 extras) and fielded steadily to allow them to reach 109. Some quality batting from us were required to get this one back. We started off well (33) and never looked back! We passed their total the second over of the last skin and then let loose to end on 142 runs. Our lowest skin was 29 runs, the highest being 42. Charl top scored with 28, followed by Warren who got a steady 20. Contributor of the Match was Charl Haasbroek with 22 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes squared up against Booze Boys again. We batted first and got off to our worst start ever! Only 4 runs from the first skin. We slowly progressed in the second, with Gerhard and Michael doing a good job to get 32 in the third. The fourth skin added a few more to end our innnigs on 75, which is not a big score! We took the fight to them and had them swaying drunkily on 54 after three skins. The fourth skin could only manage 18, leaving them 3 runs runs short! A battle of EPIC proporsions! Our fielding did the trick. We were sharper than ever, catching and defending the nets as if our lives depended on it! Contributor of the match was Heinrich Stander with 14 net runs, which included his 10th career hat trick! Way to go ]-[!

Frankie Valli had a hit song with "Oh, what a night". It includes words like "Late December back in '63. What a very special time for me". In December 2005 The NUKES had a special night! We won all three games. Defeninding 75 runs in that last game will stick in our minds for a long time!!!

On 07-11-2005 we held our first "Year End Function"! We attended the day-night match between the Nashua Titans and Nashua Dolphins at Supersport Park. We had a braai during the dinner break and everybody generally had good fun, enjoying the fours and sixes (of which there were plenty! Courtesy of Klusener, Myburgh and v Jaarsveld) Photos will be posted soon.

Tip of the Week: Catches win matches. End of story.

30 November 2005:

On 29-11-2005, The Nukes Kywalkers played against old enemy (yip, you guessed it) Mufassa's Pride. We batted first and all four skins contributed evenly to reach a total of 109 runs. Steve top scored with 28, while Warren got 18 valuable runs. Then Mufassa's started to roar. They got off to flyer, scoring 40 in the first skin. We pulled them back nicely in the second, but in the third skin they took control by scoring 59! Their final skin brought in another 28 runs, bringing their total to 140. Contributor of the Match was Warren King with 12 net runs. Sadly, it must be said that the performance of the umpire was schocking in this game. We hope our paths never cross again in future.

The Atomic Nukes played against Pornstars. We batted first, but got screwed from the start. They bowled excellently and caught everything that could be caught by normal players, as well as those catches reserved for the Jonty's of this world! We stumbled to 58 runs, our lowest total this year, if not ever! Never a team to lie down, we took the fight to them, but always knew we were a few runs short. We won two skins by conceeding only 10 and 11 runs in the 2nd and 3rd skins. The Porny's ended on 102 after having a lekker swing in the final overs. Contributor of the Match was Erik vd Linde with 12 net runs.

Better luck next time!

Tip of the week: A game is never over until the final ball has been bowled! Never give up, you will be surprised at what you can do if you give it everything (and the kitchen sink)!

23 November 2005:

On 22-11-2005, The Atomic Nukes played Booze Boys (who came down from C1). We batted first, but it became clear quite quickly that they were not under the influence... We struggled to get to a decent score, but managed to post 97 in the end, a score we felt confident of defending. They came out firing, but our bowling and fielding held as we piled on the pressure from the start. They were desperate for a drink as their last pair came in, requiring 36 for victory. They slowly but steadily drank into our lead and when the last over started, they needed just 4 runs. Fortunately, Cappy bowled great and Sarel took two match winning catches right under the batsman's nose. Phew, we won by a slender three runs, but a win is a win is a win! Contributor of the match was Heinrich Stander with 18 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played Boxom Bende. We batted first and put up a huge score of 136. Each skin contributed a fair quantity of runs, with Schalk and Piet getting 40. Warren and Heinz chipped in with 37. Trompie and the boys were up against it, but got off to a flyer in the first skin (38). We then tightened the screws on the leaking flanges and pulled the game back with 14 in the next skin. Their thrid skin got away a bit (37), but we kept things together in the fourth to limit them to 119 runs. Contributor of the match was Dugald Smith with a net contribution of 12 runs.

The Nukes Kywalkers played the Titans in our last game of the evening. They batted first and started with two solid skins, leaving them with 60 after two skins. Then we applied the pressure and limited them to 87 runs in the end. Our batting started cautiously, having 41 after two skins. Then the flood gates opened and we stormed past their total to get 125 runs, a comfortable victory! Seems like our opponnets had one too many player touring India! Contributor of the match was Stefan van Niekerk with 23 runs.

THAT MEANS VICTORY FOR ALL THREE TEAMS ON THE NIGHT! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS!!!

Tip of the Week: Fielders rarely hit the wickets directly when going for a run out. Rather throw the ball on the bounce within reach of the back stop or the keeper, who can then break the wickets to get that all important -3!

21 November 2005:

The league logs have been updated. We are either in first or second position on the logs, which looks very promising! So promising in fact that The Atomic Nukes have been moved up to C2 for this weeks game. We play as follow tomorrow night:

19:40 - The ∞ Nukes vs. Bokshom Bende
19:40 - The Atomic Nukes vs. Booze Boys
20:50 - The Nukes Kywalkers vs. Titans

See you there!

17 November 2005:

Last night The Atomic Nukes played against Vars Melk. We opened the batting, and things got pretty sour for our opponents as we had 78 after two skins. We walked off the pitch with 134 on the board, a highly defendable score! Our opponents came out firing, but some radioactive bacteria quickly quickly stopped tham in their tracks. We bowled and fielded fairly sharply and limited our oppenents to 100 runs on the dot. Contributor of the Match goes to Steve Aaron for 26 net runs.

Congratulations to: Pieter Viljoen for reaching 1000 career runs (1028 runs in 67 games, ave 15.34)
..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .. ..Erik van der Linde for taking 150 career wickets (151 in 77 games)

16 November 2005:

On 15-11-2005 The ∞ Nukes played against Gash. They gashed first and put up 89 runs, courtesy of us helping them 34 extras. We felt we could rech that target, but started off slowly. Piet and Schalk pummeled 44 in the second skin to get us underway. We reached their total halfway through the fourth skin to end on 95 runs. Contributor of the Match was Piet Viljoen with a mammoth 38 net runs!

The Nukes Kywalkers then squared up against Team Amstel. We batted first and got off to a flyer, 40 runs in the first skin, but sthings slowed after that. We ended up on 91 runs, knowing that it would be slightly difficult to defend. The Amstel runs flowed freely as they racked up a huge total of 142 runs, meaning defeat for us by 51 runs. Ouch. Contributor of the Match was Martin Sage with 15 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes are playing Vars Melk tonight at 19:40.

Tip of the Week: Attitude dude! When batting, think like Kallis would. When bowling think like Warne, Ntini or Pollock. No one is going to intimidate you, heck you are the INTIMIDATOR! Something moerse fierce, like a Nukes player in a cage !

9 November 2005:

On 8-11-2005, The Nukes Kywalkers played in the early slot against Charles in league E4 (promotion...). We batted first and steadily progressed to a socre of 97. They bowled and fielded pretty well. Our turn to bowl and things got bad pretty quickly, they scoring freely in all of the skins to get to a huge total of 148. We conceeded too many 6's (8 in total) and extras (36 in total) to be competitive on the night. Contributor of the Match was Frank Emslie with 0 net runs.

The ∞ Nukes played our old enemy Wolfram X-Rays in league E2 (another promotion...). We batted first and all the skins pulled evenly to get to 112 runs, a defendable target. They started off at a blitering pace, scoring 48 in the first skin and 30 in the second. We then pulled the plug on the X-Ray machine to limit them to 105 at the death. We won a close game, but made life difficult by conceeding 26 extras. Contributor of the Match goes to Pieter Viljoen with 18 net runs.

The Atomic Nukes played against old rivals Rawalpindi Express. We planned the derailing of the train carefully with a slightly adjusted batting sequence. We batted first and raced to 57 off the first skin, courtesy of Stefan who monstered everything from the first ball (34 runs). They got the train back on its rails, but we still got to 116 runs. We then not only derailed the train, but took off the wheels! Everything that could be caught was caught. We demolished them with our most emphatic fielding display in a long time. The train wreckage came to a stand still on 47 runs. Contributor of the Match was Dirk Swart with 26 net runs. Heinrich got his 9th hat trick as part of his career best figures of 7 / -11!

Welcome to Frank Emslie and Jacques de Jager (who helped out on VERY short notice!)

Tip of the Week: Remember to slide that bat into the crease when running. You score a yard in this fashion, something very precious in this game!

2 November 2005:

So it all began... The Atomic Nukes was promoted to league C3 and played their first game against The Replacements. We batted first and found their bowling much to our liking, posting a huge total of 131, of which Spiderman and Steve slaughtered 51 the first skin. We then proceded with a very accurate bowling effort in which only 4 extras were conceded. That together with some good fielding, limited our opponents to 90 runs, giving us a clean sweep for the night. Man of the Match goes to Steve Aaron for a net contribution of 19 runs.

The ∞ Nukes squared up against CTC in league E3. They batted first and put up a competitive total of 110 runs. We started off fairly well, scoring 53 in the first two skins. They then turned on the screws and limited us to 35 in the last two skins. This meant we ended up on 88 runs, which is of course 22 runs short of their total. Man of the Match goes to Schalk Albertyn with a net contribution of 7 runs.

The Nukes Kywalkers then played Wing Nuts in league E5 Blue. We batted first and put on a mammoth total of 159 runs, courtesy of a 54 final skin, of which Steve hammered 40! They started off well, scoring 65 in the first two skins, but we applied pressure on their last two skins to limit them to 98 runs, giving us a huge 61 run victory margin! Man of the Match goes to Steve Aaron with a colossal net contribution of 34 runs!
